Ellesmere Quays

Peel, The Waterways Trust, Cheshire West and Chester Council and the Ellesmere Port Development Board are working in partnership and have launched a vision to promote the transformation of Ellesmere Port's Waterfront into a new vibrant desintation for residents, tourists, visitors and the wider community.

Improvements to the existing Docks Conservation Area are planned as the Conservation Area (which includes the National Waterways Museum) and its historic buildings and docks are an underutilised and often underappreciated asset. It is anticipated that bringing new activity to the area will bring many wider benefits for the Town.

Located off Junctions 8 and 9 of the M53, Ellesmere Quays is Peel's major development within the Waterfront, which will see the land to the north of the Conservation Area redeveloped as an exciting new residential, leisure and tourist desintation.

The Ellesmere Quays scheme will include a mix of quality homes alongside leisure and tourism related development, local community facilities, an ecology park and a promenade fronting the Manchester Ship Canal. All of these uses will benefit from spectacular views across the Manchester Ship Canal and Mersey Estuary whilst also integrating with and complementing the wider Waterfront area. New modern port facilities are also proposed to the north of the waterfront.

The Ellesmere Quays scheme and wider Waterfront enhancements are anticipated to have a transformational impact on the Town, raising its profile and image and being a catalyst for wider regeneration.
