Elton parish councillor Cllr Tony Mills has been elected chairman of the Ince Marshes Resource Recovery Park Community Forum.
The Forum consists of district, parish and town councillors from the local area (see below for full list of Councillors). Non-voting members from the Environment Agency and Cheshire West and Chester Council act in an advisory capacity to the Forum.
The purpose of the Forum is to provide an interface between local communities and the Resource Recovery Park. Forum members will be able to raise issues of concern that impact on and affect the community.
Establishing the Forum was a requirement of the Secretary of State’s conditions when planning permission was granted to the Ince Marshes Resources Recovery Park. The Forum has a formal constitution which has been approved by Cheshire West and Chester Council and members of the Forum.
Cllr. Tony Mills said: “As a parish councillor for Elton this area will be one of the resident’s main concerns. As Chair of the Forum I will try to keep all parties aware about the running of the plant.”
Myles Kitcher Director of Peel Environmental Ltd said: “We have always recognised that the local community does have real concerns around the development of the Resource Recovery Park and we welcome the establishment of the Forum. We are determined work with it in as constructive and transparent manner as possible.”
The Forum will also have its own website which is in the process of being established and will be going live shortly. Further details will follow.
