Peel's proposed £50 billion investment strategy for the North West.
Peel Energy will this week formally submit its planning application for Frodsham wind farm to the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC).
The scheme, on a strip of land between the M56 motorway and Manchester Ship Canal, now has a reduced number of 20 wind turbines following feedback from statutory consultees and further environmental studies.
If approved, the scheme would generate enough electricity to meet the average needs of approximately 28,500 homes – more than one fifth of the homes in Cheshire West & Chester.
If the scheme is approved, it would also help Cheshire meet half of its 2020 renewable energy target for onshore wind.
Peel Energy is to hold a series of public exhibitions in early March in Frodsham, Helsby and Elton to provide local communities with an update on the scheme and explain the planning application.
Stephen Snowdon, Peel Energy Development Manager, said: “Thank you to everyone who attended our public exhibitions last November and gave us their valuable feedback.
“We have made some changes to our proposal and want to share these with the local communities.
“There will be a range of new information, including 30 images showing how the wind farm would look as well as details of the noise assessments that have been completed.”
The exhibitions will take place on:
The Peel Energy team will be on hand to provide an overview of the planning application and answer questions.
