Father Christmas Makes Flying Visit to Local School

Thursday, 1 December 2011

Father Christmas is making a special visit to pupils at Whittle-le-Woods Primary School in Chorley, when he is set to arrive at the school in a private helicopter.

Giving Rudolph and the rest of his reindeers a day off, Cardinal Helicopter Services Ltd are kindly flew Father Christmas to the school so that he could personally collect the children’s Christmas letters on Wednesday 7th December. The pupils will be making a donation for having their letters collected to children’s medical research charity, Sparks.

Some of the lucky pupils will then go for a short helicopter ride with Father Christmas. Headteacher, Mrs Berryman comments “We are all very excited about having Father Christmas land on our school field in a helicopter. The children are busy writing their letters. We are also delighted to be supporting Sparks and helping the many children living with a life threatening condition or disability”.

Richard Stubbs from Cardinal Helicopter Services Ltd, who are based at the heliport, part of City Airport & Heliport, Manchester said “It is a real honour to fly Father Christmas to this very important meeting. Our helicopter is fast and can get passengers to where they need to be quickly and in style, but I don’t think that even we could manage to stop at every house in one night. We’ll take good care of our special passenger and raise some vital funds for Sparks too”. Cardinal Helicopter Services Ltd are part of The Peel Group who has chosen Sparks as their official charity.

Nia Williams, Regional Fundraising Co-ordinator for Sparks in the North West comments “Sadly, in the UK, 1 in 30 babies are born with a medical condition which may affect them for life. Our goal is for every child to be born healthy and stay healthy and the wonderful funds raised by the pupils at Whittle-le-Woods Primary School will help us to continue our pioneering medical research and enable us to touch the lives of those children who need our help”.
