Cyclists and pedestrians using the Bridgewater Canal towpath are to benefit from a £1.5 million funding boost, after a successful bid for funding by Trafford Council and Transport for Greater Manchester to deliver the next phases of the Bridgewater Way.
Representatives from Peel and Salford Council met on the Bridgewater Canal towpath in Worsley on the 28th July 2011 to formally open the latest completed phase of Bridgewater Way in Salford.
Over a quarter of a million walking and cycling journeys per year on new Bridgewater Way route in Sale and Stretford.
This year sees the Bridgewater Canal celebrate its 250th anniversary. To celebrate this milestone, a number of events are taking place at various destinations along the Bridgewater Canal.
Councillors and representatives from Peel met on the recently completed towpath beside the Bridgewater Canal on Friday 17th June 2011 to officially open the next phase of the Bridgewater Way route in Trafford.
Pupils at Stretford Grammar School have enjoyed a week of different cycling and walking events to celebrate the opening of the 'Links to school' scheme along the Bridgewater Way.
The next phase of the Bridgewater Way in Salford is anticipated to start the week commencing 21st March 2011. This phase of work will concentrate on the section between Monton and Worsley.
Councillors, representatives from Peel and local supporters met on the bank of the Bridgewater Canal today to officially open the next phase of the Bridgewater Way route in Salford.
The next phase of the Bridgewater Way work has started. This phase of work will concentrate on the section between Sale Bridge and Marsland Bridge, adding to the newly completed route between Sale and Stretford.
The official opening of the first section of the Bridgewater Way in Trafford took place on 4th June. Representatives from Trafford Council, Peel and Sustrans gathered on the newly transformed towpath.
