Peel develop, own and manage a variety of retail operations

Peel has a wealth of experience in creating world class destinations for retail, entertainment and leisure from retail parks and shopping developments with leisure and dining outlets to skating rinks and hotels. The Group's interests within the retail sector include direct and indirect investment.

Peel's investments include a major shareholding in Intu Properties plc, which is the UK's leading specialist developer, manager and owner of regional shopping centres.

With a portfolio of 14 centres representing 16 million sq. ft. of retail space and a valuation of £6.7 billion, Intu's shopping centres attact well over 300 million customers a year. With an unrivalled and irreplaceable portfolio built up over 40 years, Intu Properties own more pre-eminent shopping centres in the UK than any other operator.

The Intu portfolio comprises five major out of town centres (including four of the UK's top six out of town centres) The Trafford Centre, Manchester which was delivered by The Peel Group; Lakeside, Thurrock; Metrocentre, Gateshead; Braehead, Glasgow and the Mall at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol and nine in-town centres include those in prime locations such as Cardiff, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich and Nottingham.


Gloucester Quays - a new waterside shopping and leisure desination in Gloucester's Historic Docks area with surrounding attractions including a waterways museum, antiques centre and nearby Cathedral.

Ideally located close to the M5 motorway, the 60 acre, £400 million Gloucester Quays development will provide over 150,000 sq m (1.6 million sq ft) of floorspace when complete. Phase one of the development was opened by Gok Wan in May 2009 and now has over 50 stores including Gap Outlet, L.K. Bennett, M&S Outlet, Osprey London and Le Crueset.

Currently, there are Nando's and Pizza Excpress restaurants at Gloucester Quays in addition to the various cafes. However in July 2012, work started on a new leisure and shopping quarter known as "The Quayside." The new £60m quarter will include 11 restaurants, a 10-screen, 1,600-seat cinema and new shops. The plans will also mean the creation of 500 new jobs. "The Quayside" is scheduled to be open for business by autumn 2013.


Lowry Outlet - The Peel Group announced in August 2012 that it had reached an agreement for the purhcase of the Lowry Outlet at Salford Quays.

The Mall consists of more than 300,000 sq. ft. of retail and leisure, with 80 stores, a choice of cafes and restaurants, and a seven-screen Vue cinema. With just over 4.7 million visitors in 2011, the Lowry recently revealed that sales were up 11% year-on-year while footfall has increased by 14%.Occupiers include M & S Outlet for Furniture, Nike Factory Outlet, GAP Outlet and Flannels.


Washington Mall - a Bermuda premier office and retail complex located in the heart of Hamilton. Both the retail and office space have recently been extended.


Retail Parks - we have twelve retail parks throughout the country extending to over 2.3 million sq. ft. and over 130 outlet stores based on these sites. Each of our parks is individual and we aim to meet our clients’ needs by offering a first class service.

Retail and Leisure offers extend across the portfolio in locations such as MediaCityUK, Salford Quays and Princes Dock in Liverpool.
