Peel's investments include a major shareholding in Capital Shopping Centres (CSC), which is the UK's leading specialist developer, manager and owner of regional shopping centres.
With a portfolio of 14 centres representing 16 million sq. ft. of retail space and a valuation of £6.7 billion, CSC's shopping centres attact well over 300 million customers a year. With an unrivalled and irreplaceable portfolio built up over 40 years, CSC owns more pre-eminent shopping centres in the UK than any other operator.
The CSC portfolio comprises five major out of town centres (including four of the UK's top six out of town centres) The Trafford Centre, Manchester which was delivered by The Peel Group; Lakeside, Thurrock; Metrocentre, Gateshead; Braehead, Glasgow and the Mall at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol and nine in-town centres include those in prime locations such as Cardiff, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich and Nottingham.
Gloucester Quays - a joint venture between The Peel Group and British Waterways and is one of the largest mixed use waterside regeneration developments in the UK.
The 60 acre, £400 million development sited at Gloucester Docks will provide over 150,000 sq m (1.6 million sq ft) of floorspace. Within the scheme is the Gloucester Quays Outlet Centre, phase one of which opened in May 2009 and brings a mix of designer and high street stores to Gloucester.
There are also plans to expand the Gloucester Quays Outlet Centre to create a new leisure and shopping quarter called The Quayside. The new £60m quarter will include 11 restaurants, a 10-screen, 1,600-seat cinema and new shops. The plans will also mean the creation of 500 new jobs. Work is expected to start in 2012 with The Quayside scheduled to be open for business by autumn 2013.
Washington Mall - a Bermuda premier office and retail complex located in the heart of Hamilton. Both the retail and office space have recently been extended.
