New EventCity video released at EventCity Live!
Peel is delighted to be working in partnership with Sparks, the children’s medical research charity. This exciting alliance will see The Peel Group and Sparks working together to save and change tiny lives throughout the North West.
The funds we raise together will leave a lasting legacy in the North West, a legacy that will have a positive impact on the health of mothers and their babies now and in the future. This is our chance to make a very real impact on so many tiny lives, not just now but for generations to come.
When you ask any expectant parent if they want a boy or a girl, the answer is almost always the same – they don’t mind as long as their baby is healthy. That’s what Sparks is all about.
Sparks is a unique children’s charity funding medical research into the prevention, treatment and cure of ALL conditions and illnesses affecting children, babies and expectant mothers.
In the UK around 700,000 babies are born each year and1 in 30 of these will be born with a health condition that could affect them and their families for the rest of their lives. That’s around 70 families a day that are told their baby has been born with an illness, disability or that their baby’s life is at risk.
It’s just as hard to come to terms with your child developing an illness in the early years of life, for example, in the UK every day 10 families have to hear the devastating news that their child has cancer.
Support from The Peel Group will fund the Sparks pre-eclampsia project based at St. Mary’s Hospital and The Hope Hospital Manchester and all money raised from the Peel/Sparks partnership will be going directly to research aiming to find a single state-of-the-art test for the prediction of pre-eclampsia.

Corporate Development Manager, John Peter Whittaker, successfully completed the toughest footrace on Earth, the Marathon Des Sables to raise funds for Sparks and MyelomaUK.
